About this journey

What makes this trip.

Jordan is a small country with an outsized impact: within its borders, a nearly complete Roman city stands beside a rose-red metropolis carved into living rock, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Between them lie the haunting sandscapes of Wadi Rum, the coral gardens of the Red Sea at Aqaba, and a sea so salty that visitors float on its surface. Alongside these natural and archaeological treasures, Jordan holds landmarks cherished by Muslim travellers — from Mount Nebo and the shrine of the Prophet Moses to the Cave of the Sleepers and the shrines of the Companions at Mu'tah and Al-Mazar. This carefully paced itinerary gathers those treasures into one comfortable nine-day route. Following the historic King's Highway south from Amman, groups descend through Madaba, Kerak, and the biblical heights of Nebo to Petra, cross into the desert of Wadi Rum, unwind on the shores of the Red Sea, and finish at the lowest point on Earth. It is a route that marries history, spirituality, and the sheer beauty of the land in equal measure.
  • Enter Petra through the towering Siq to the sudden reveal of Al-Khazneh, the Nabataean Treasury carved into rose-red rock
  • Wander Jerash, the 'City of a Thousand Columns' and one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world
  • Ride 4x4s across the red sands of Wadi Rum and sleep under a canopy of desert stars
  • Stand on Mount Nebo where the Prophet Moses is said to have looked out over the Holy Land
  • Float effortlessly on the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth
  • Glass-bottom boat over the coral reefs of the Red Sea at Aqaba
  • Visit the sacred sites of the Companions at Mu'tah and Al-Mazar and the Quran-referenced Cave of the Sleepers
  • Explore Madaba's famed 6th-century mosaic map and the crusader-era Kerak Castle along the King's Highway

Who this trip is for

Who this trip is for.

Built for travel agencies and tour operators assembling group departures that want Jordan's greatest hits in one comfortable, well-paced circuit — Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and the Red Sea alongside the Roman north. Its blend of archaeology, natural wonders, and sacred sites of the prophets and companions makes it especially well-suited to faith-conscious groups, while remaining a strong classic-highlights tour for any leisure group of around 30 travellers.

Itinerary

Day by day.

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Amman

Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport, where your local guide welcomes the group before the transfer to the hotel to settle in and rest. Time permitting, the day closes with an evening viewpoint over the illuminated capital from the Amman Citadel. Amman, Jordan's capital and largest city, blends deep history with modern energy — built across seven hills and layered with remains from the Roman era to today. (Dinner)

  2. Day 2

Jerash, Ajloun, the Cave of the Sleepers and Amman

A full day heading north through the kingdom. Visit the Roman city of Jerash — one of the most complete Roman cities surviving anywhere, with its oval plaza and colonnades, colonnaded street, theatres, and two-thousand-year-old temples — then the Ayyubid castle of Ajloun, built in the time of Saladin to watch over the region's routes. On the way back, stop at the Cave of the Sleepers (Al-Raqim), referenced in the Quran, before touring Amman's landmarks: the Citadel, the Roman Theatre, and the downtown. (Breakfast, Dinner)

  3. Day 3

Amman to Petra via the King's Highway

Travel south along the historic King's Highway toward Petra. Visit Madaba, the 'City of Mosaics,' famous for its 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land — among the oldest known maps of the earth — then Mount Nebo, where the Prophet Moses is said to have stood overlooking the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Jericho. Continue to the medieval Kerak Castle, a hilltop fortress blending Crusader and Islamic architecture, and to Mu'tah and Al-Mazar, site of the famous Battle of Mu'tah and the shrines of the Companions Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, Zayd ibn Harithah, and Abdullah ibn Rawahah, before reaching Wadi Musa at Petra. (Breakfast, Dinner)

  4. Day 4

Petra — A Full Day in the Rose-Red City

A full day in Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and the Nabataean capital carved into rose-red stone. Enter through the Siq, the narrow rock corridor, until Al-Khazneh (the Treasury) appears in all its grandeur — a facade nearly forty metres high carved with astonishing precision as a royal Nabataean mausoleum. Continue along the colonnaded street to the theatre, royal tombs, and temples, with an optional climb to the Monastery (Ad-Deir) and a distant view of the shrine of the Prophet Aaron atop Jebel Haroun. In the evening, an optional 'Petra by Night' experience by candlelight. (Breakfast, Dinner)

  5. Day 5

    Petra to Wadi Rum

Heading south, stop at Little Petra, a small Nabataean site that once served as a trading suburb for caravans, with facades and temples carved into a narrow rock passage. Then enter the enchanting desert of Wadi Rum — the 'Valley of the Moon' — a protected desert and World Heritage site of soaring cliffs and red sand. Ride 4x4 vehicles among the red mountains, dunes, and ancient inscriptions, witness an unforgettable sunset, and spend the night at a desert camp with a traditional Bedouin dinner beneath a sky full of stars. (Breakfast, Dinner)

  6. Day 6

Wadi Rum to Aqaba on the Red Sea

Leave the desert in the morning for Aqaba, Jordan's gateway to the Red Sea. Enjoy its warm, clear waters and coral reefs on a glass-bottom boat tour, then set aside time to relax on the beach. Aqaba is Jordan's only coastal city on the Red Sea, combining beaches, reefs, and history in a warm climate year-round. (Breakfast, Dinner)

  7. Day 7

    Free Day in Aqaba

A day for leisure and rest in Aqaba: swimming and water sports for those who wish, a stroll through the city's markets and cafés, or simply unwinding on the beach in the calm atmosphere of the Red Sea. (Breakfast, Dinner)

  8. Day 8

    Aqaba to the Dead Sea

Head north through Wadi Araba — the great rift valley of unique desert scenery stretching between Aqaba and the Dead Sea — to the Dead Sea itself, the lowest point on Earth at around 430 metres below sea level. Experience the unique sensation of floating on its intensely salty waters and enjoy its mineral-rich therapeutic mud and resort facilities. (Breakfast, Dinner)

  9. Day 9

    Departure

After breakfast, and depending on your return flight time, transfer to Queen Alia International Airport — with an optional stop en route at the shrine of the Prophet Shu'ayb near As-Salt — carrying home memories of a journey that gathered history, spirituality, and the beauty of the land. (Breakfast)

Before you travel

Important notes.

Best visited in spring or autumn for milder weather. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, especially for Petra, Jerash, and Wadi Rum. Desert nights in Wadi Rum can be cold, so a jacket is advisable. Tourist groups (five or more) travelling through a licensed Jordanian tour operator with a licensed guide are exempt from visa fees, provided they stay two or more nights — a condition met by this program.
